Competition films secured

Two films insured by the DFG are running in this year's Berlinale competition: Fatih Akin's The Golden Glove and Nora Fingscheidt's debut film System Crasher.

Hamburg, 31 January 2019   -   With The Golden Glove, the DFG has also insured the Hamburg director's latest film. The film is based on the novel by Heinz Strunk and tells the story of the woman-killer Fritz Honka and about the pub "Zum goldenen Handschuh" in Hamburg. The film, produced by bombero international in co-production with Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany and Pathé, was shot in summer 2018 at original locations in Hamburg. The DFG insured the film with a bundled film insurance policy, which also covers the biggest risks such as personal or property loss, accident insurance and the loss of image, sound and data media.

The second competition film is System Crasher by Nora Fingscheid. The focus is on the nine-year-old Benni. All pedagogical systems are overwhelmed with the tender and energetic girl, where she goes, she flies out again. Helena Zengel plays the leading role in the debut film produced by Weydemann Bros, Kineo Filmproduktion and Oma Inge Film in co-production with ZDF/Das kleine Fernsehspiel. "Shooting with children always involves risks", explains Robert von Bennigsen, Managing Director of the Burmester, Duncker & Joly Group, which operates the DFG as a brand. "With this film, too, the producers were on the safe side with our bundled film policy."

For the second time, the DFG is inviting customers, partners and friends to a Family & Friends Dinner in the Diekmanns restaurant in Berlin. "A good opportunity to network, cultivate existing contacts, exchange ideas and win new customers", said von Bennigsen.

The DFG – German Film Insurance Pool is a brand of Burmester, Duncker & Joly GmbH & Co. KG.
