11th DFG Film Event - The Teachers' Lounge

The first DFG Film Event after the Corona pandemic: For the 11th time already, the DFG traditionally welcomed the approximately 150 registered guests on the eve of the Film Festival in Hamburg at the festival cinema Abaton.
After the 3-year break, all guests were again looking forward to the DFG Film Event and the convivial round in the Abaton Bar and the Abaton Bistro. After the reception in the Abaton Bar, Hendrik Bockelmann, Managing Director of the DFG, looked back on the past years, which were very much marked by the Corona pandemic, and gave an insight and outlook on the development of the film and cinema industry in Germany and worldwide. Afterwards he interviewed the production manager Markus Mayr, who had interesting background information to tell about the production and the shooting of the film.

This year, the film of the evening was "The Teachers' Lounge," which is in the selection process for the 2024 Foreign Oscar. "The Teachers' Lounge" stages an everyday school life with all its ups and downs, in which the teachers assume the position of power. The film has already won several awards and is nominated for Best European Feature Film.
Afterwards, the film was discussed during the cosy get-together and delicious food at the Abaton Bistro.
